Over the past month of the COVID-19 pandemic, Railserve, Inc., has safely continued to operate at our 80 customer locations. Railserve’s leadership team has shown strong guidance by taking the appropriate actions to ensure the health and safety of our employees and the customers we serve. During this difficult time, we are extremely proud of the commitment from our employees and the safe and reliable service they have continued to deliver.

We, and our parent company Marmon Holdings, Inc., continue to closely monitor the latest updates and information related to COVID-19. We are continuously assessing the potential impact to our employees and their families, our customers, the communities in which we operate, and our business.

Safety is a core value at Railserve, which is why we have implemented various changes at our corporate and customer-served locations to increase protection. We moved all non-essential employees to a work-from-home environment to limit their potential exposure. In addition, we instructed all employees to stay home if they experience flu or cold symptoms, given their similarity to COVID-19, to avoid the potential spread of germs. We appreciate that our employees are successfully practicing these protocols.

At customer-served locations, Railserve established new work practices to minimize the risk of person-to-person exposure and the potential spread of COVID-19. These measures include:

  • Physical distancing to the extent possible by maintaining a minimum distance of 6 feet from others on the work site
  • Regular handwashing, reinforced by written and verbal reminders daily; Railserve and its customers also provide hand sanitizer, as well as masks at each site, where required
  • Disinfecting all shared equipment frequently, when passing from person to person, including radios, REAct™ buttons, hand tools, and other shared equipment
  • Limiting capacity for locomotive operators to one employee per shift
  • Minimizing the number of passengers in vehicles used for transport around worksites where feasible, or walking instead of driving
  • Temporarily eliminating opportunities to congregate by utilizing electronic communication systems instead of in-person meetings

Furthermore, to ensure business continuity, we have established pandemic preparedness plans that are specific to each worksite by following guidance and direction from our customers.
We will continue to adjust our action plan based on direction from federal, state, provincial and local authorities, as well as the advice provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), to ensure our employees stay safe and our customer operations remain unaffected.
